Home batteries

Your panels produce the most at midday, when most homes use the least. A battery stores that surplus and carries your home through the evening peak, when grid power usually costs the most.

Questions

Can I add a battery to my existing solar?

In most cases, yes. It depends on your current inverter and switchboard. We'll check your system and recommend either an AC-coupled battery or an inverter upgrade.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

Only if the battery and installation support backup. Not every system does. We'll tell you exactly what your chosen system can and can't do in an outage.

How big should my battery be?

It depends on your evening and overnight usage and your solar size. We size it from your bills and usage pattern rather than a one-size-fits-all number.
